Show Your SEO Wins, Not Just Your Writing

This role is about turning existing content into high-performing digital assets. The hiring team wants proof you can edit, optimise, and drive enquiries — not just write. Bring concrete examples of how you've improved search rankings and engagement.

    1. Curate a portfolio of before-and-after edits: Show a piece of content you edited, with the original and your version. Highlight the SEO changes you made — meta titles, headings, internal links — and explain the impact on traffic or engagement. This proves you can add value beyond writing.

    2. Quantify your SEO results: When you talk about past SEO work, use numbers. For example, 'increased organic traffic by 40% in six months' or 'improved keyword rankings from page 3 to page 1'. Numbers make your experience tangible and credible.

    3. Demonstrate your WordPress and CMS skills: Be ready to talk about how you've used WordPress or similar platforms to publish and maintain content. Mention specific plugins you've used for SEO, like Yoast or Rank Math, and how you've structured landing pages for conversions.

    4. Prepare to discuss your AI tool workflow: The posting asks for details of AI tools you use regularly. Be specific about which tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper, Murf) and how you integrate them into your editing and publishing process. Show you use AI to enhance, not replace, quality.

    5. Understand the legal and insolvency niche: Even though you're not writing from scratch, you'll be editing content on complex topics. Show you can grasp the subject matter and maintain accuracy. Read a few articles on insolvency law to get familiar with the terminology.

    6. Emphasise your ability to drive enquiries: This role is about generating leads. Talk about how you've used calls-to-action, landing pages, and content offers to convert readers into enquiries. Give an example of a campaign you ran that resulted in measurable leads.

    7. Show you're a long-term fit: The posting stresses they want someone for a long-term opportunity, not a short-term gig. In your cover letter and interview, express genuine interest in growing with the company and contributing to its long-term digital strategy.

    8. Prepare for the paid practical assessment: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a paid practical assessment. Expect to edit a sample article, optimise it for SEO, and maybe create a CTA. Practice this beforehand with a sample piece of content.
