    Additional Information

How to Apply: Download and duly fill the Employment Application Form from the County website (www.nyeri.go.ke) and submit it by hand or post to the Secretary, Nyeri County Public Service Board, P.O. Box 90-10100 Nyeri, or hand-deliver to the Board offices, before 29th September 2026 at 5.00pm. Attach your ID, KCPE and KCSE certificates, Plant Mechanics National Trade Test Certificate Grade III/Apprentice Certificate, and evidence of at least one year of experience.

Show Your Hands-On Tractor and Plant Machinery Service Record

This role is about keeping agricultural machinery and farm tractors running in the field, not just reading manuals. The County Board will be looking for proof that you have actually serviced engines, done minor repairs, and followed safety and cleanliness routines under supervision.

    1. Lead with your practical service log: On your CV, list the specific machines and tractors you have serviced, the types of minor services you performed (oil changes, filter replacements, greasing, belt checks), and the workshop or farm setting. If you have a logbook or service records, mention them. For example, write 'Serviced 50hp farm tractors at XYZ farm, performing routine oil and filter changes.'

    2. Attach every certificate in order: The Board explicitly asks for ID, KCPE and KCSE certificates, and the Plant Mechanics National Trade Test Certificate Grade III or Apprentice Certificate. Photocopy them clearly and arrange them in the order listed. Missing one document can disqualify you, so double-check the list.

    3. Prove your one year of experience: Get a letter from your previous employer or workshop stating your role and duration, ideally on letterhead. If you were self-employed or did an apprenticeship, gather any contracts, payslips, or testimonial letters that show you worked for at least one year.

    4. Expect a practical or technical interview: The panel may ask you to explain how you would service a specific tractor part or diagnose a common fault. Revise basic engine systems, hydraulic systems, and safety procedures. Practice describing your steps clearly, as if you are teaching a junior.

    5. Emphasize cleanliness and tool care: The job description mentions maintaining cleanliness of the workplace and caring for tools. In your CV and interview, give examples of how you keep your work area organized and tools in good condition, such as cleaning up after each job and reporting damaged tools.

    6. Show you understand county agricultural needs: Nyeri County relies on agriculture, so machinery like tractors and plant equipment are vital. Mention any experience with common local crops or farming operations, and show you appreciate the importance of reliable machinery for farmers.

    7. Prepare for the 'other duties' question: The role says you may be assigned other duties by your supervisor. Be ready to say you are flexible and willing to learn new tasks, such as assisting with workshop administration or helping during peak seasons.

    8. Follow the application instructions exactly: Use the official Employment Application Form from www.nyeri.go.ke, and submit it by the deadline. Do not pay anyone for the application, as the Board does not charge. Keep a copy of your application and note the reference number if any.
