Prove You Can Build a Rural Sales Force, Not Just Hit a Number

This role lives or dies on your ability to recruit, coach, and keep sales agents productive across counties. Hiring managers will screen for evidence that you have built a team of 10+ direct reports in rural markets, not just carried a personal sales target.

    1. Lead with team-building numbers: Your CV should state exactly how many agents you recruited, trained, and retained, and what sales growth that team delivered. For example, 'Recruited and coached 14 agents across 3 counties, growing monthly sales from X to Y in 9 months.' Vague claims like 'managed a sales team' will not survive the first screen.

    2. Show rural selling proof: The posting specifically asks for rural selling experience in solar, agri-inputs, or regenerative technologies. Name the products, the counties or regions you covered, and the customer profile you sold to. If you sold to farmers, say so directly and mention how you built trust in low-connectivity areas.

    3. Quantify portfolio quality: This role owns repayment performance, not just sales volume. Prepare examples of how you monitored repayment, handled non-payment, and kept default rates low. A hiring manager will probe whether you can balance aggressive sales with responsible lending to farmers.

    4. Prepare a territory plan: Before the interview, sketch a simple 90-day plan for Githunguri and the surrounding counties. Include how you would map agent coverage, set county-level targets, and run monthly market activations. Bringing a one-page plan shows you understand the field reality, not just the theory.

    5. Demonstrate data discipline: The role requires daily performance monitoring through calls and WhatsApp, plus quality data collection for farmers sold to. Be ready to explain how you have used simple tools like Excel or WhatsApp groups to track agent activity and flag underperformance early. Mention any experience with data entry and MS Office.

    6. Address the driving licence and travel: The job requires regular field travel and a valid driving licence. Confirm both clearly in your application and give examples of previous roles where you spent most of your week on the road. If you have managed company assets like cars or motorbikes, mention how you handled maintenance and reconciliations.

    7. Show you can coach, not just direct: The posting mentions onboarding, classroom and in-field training, feedback, recognition, and bi-weekly meetings. Prepare a story about a struggling agent you turned around through coaching. Explain the specific actions you took and the measurable improvement that followed.

    8. Align with the mission: Sistema Biobolsa works with farmers and regenerative technologies, so show genuine interest in improving farmers' lives. Read up on the company's products and be ready to discuss how you would sell them credibly. Passion for the customer, combined with a hardworking and honest approach, is explicitly called out in the requirements.
