Prove You Can Turn FP&A Numbers Into Decisions Before You Walk In
Commercial Analyst FP&A roles at Teleperformance Kenya are not about ticking spreadsheets — they are about giving business leaders numbers they can act on. The hiring team will screen for evidence that you have owned budgets, reforecasts, and period-end reporting under real deadlines, not just assisted on them.
1. Lead with budget ownership on your CV: Your CV should show at least one budget or reforecast cycle you personally drove, including the size of the budget, the number of cost centres, and the timeline you worked to. Recruiters for this role scan for phrases like 'owned the annual budget for a business unit' rather than 'supported budgeting'. If you worked on a forecast that changed mid-quarter, state what changed and how you adjusted the numbers.
2. Quantify your reporting speed and accuracy: FP&A leaders here care about stricter timelines and accuracy under pressure, so give concrete proof. Instead of 'prepared monthly reports', write 'delivered period-end close pack for 3 entities within 4 working days with zero restatements'. Numbers like these separate you from candidates who only list duties. If you reduced a reporting cycle from 10 days to 6, say so.
3. Show ERP and BI tool fluency with specifics: The posting prefers Power BI and Cognos/Planning Analytics, so name the tools you have actually used and what you built with them. For example, 'built a Power BI dashboard tracking revenue per vertical that replaced a manual Excel pack' is far stronger than 'proficient in MS Excel'. If your experience is mostly Excel, describe the complexity — multi-entity consolidations, dynamic forecasts, or scenario models — to show depth.
4. Prepare a profitability analysis story: The role explicitly involves analysing profitability data and uncovering actionable insights, so bring one example to interview. Walk through the data you pulled, the trend you spotted, the recommendation you made, and the financial impact. Hiring managers want to hear how you moved from analysis to action, not just that you can run a variance report. Rehearse this story in under three minutes.
5. Demonstrate cross-functional communication: You will work with India FP&A Leaders and TPUKISSA Finance, so interviewers will probe how you explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders. Prepare an example where you translated a complex variance into a one-page summary for a business leader. Mention how you handled pushback or conflicting priorities. Strong candidates show they can influence without authority.
6. Address the 18-month tenure requirement directly: If you are an internal Teleperformance candidate, confirm your tenure and disciplinary record early in the process. If you are external, do not ignore the requirement — instead, highlight stability in previous roles and any long-term projects you saw through. Recruiters notice when candidates proactively clarify eligibility rather than leaving it to HR to discover.
7. Brush up on financial modelling under time pressure: Expect a practical test or detailed questions on building a forecast from incomplete data. Practise constructing a simple P&L forecast in Excel with assumptions clearly labelled, and be ready to explain your logic. The posting stresses accuracy under pressure, so speed matters, but a clean, auditable model beats a fast messy one. Review common FP&A scenarios like headcount cost forecasting or revenue bridge analysis.
8. Show you improve processes, not just run them: The role asks for participation in process improvement and cost savings within FP&A. Come with one example of a manual process you simplified — for instance, automating a recurring report with Power Query or standardising a template across teams. Explain the time saved or errors reduced. This signals you will not just maintain the status quo but actively make the function leaner.
