Show You Can Run a Hospital, Not Just Administer One
This role is about operational leadership in a healthcare setting. Hiring managers will look for evidence that you can manage budgets, lead clinical and non-clinical teams, and keep quality standards high under pressure.
1. Lead with your healthcare management track record: On your CV, highlight specific achievements in hospital or clinic management. Use numbers: bed capacity, staff size, budget managed, or patient satisfaction scores. Avoid vague statements like 'responsible for operations'.
2. Prove you understand regulatory compliance: Be ready to discuss your experience with Kenyan healthcare regulations, licensing, and quality standards. Mention any audits or accreditations you have led or participated in.
3. Show financial acumen: Since budgeting is a key duty, prepare examples of how you controlled costs, improved revenue, or managed resources efficiently. Even if it was an added responsibility, frame it as a core strength.
4. Demonstrate staff leadership and development: Talk about how you have built teams, resolved conflicts, and supported professional growth. Use a specific example of mentoring or training that improved performance.
5. Prepare for patient experience questions: Expect questions on how you would improve patient care and satisfaction. Have a story ready about a time you implemented a change that directly improved patient experience.
6. Know your stakeholders: This role requires maintaining relationships with internal and external parties. Be ready to discuss how you have worked with doctors, nurses, suppliers, regulators, or community leaders.
7. Bring a 90-day plan: Show you are strategic by outlining what you would do in your first three months: assess operations, meet key staff, review financials, and identify quick wins. This sets you apart as a proactive leader.
8. Tailor your application to RFH: Research RFH Healthcare's services and reputation. In your cover letter, mention why you are drawn to their mission and how your experience aligns with their specific needs.
