    Additional Information

How to Apply: Download the Employment Application Form from the County website (www.nyeri.go.ke), fill it out, and submit it by hand or post to: The Secretary, Nyeri County Public Service Board, P.O. Box 90-10100, Nyeri, or call 0745342000. Applications must be received by 29th September 2026 at 5.00pm.

Show HR Registration and Public-Sector Readiness

This role sits inside a county government HR structure, so the panel will be checking for formal HR credentials, registration with the Institute of Human Resource Management, and the ability to supervise clerical staff within public service rules. Your application should prove you can handle routine HR tasks with precision and integrity.

    1. Lead with your IHRM registration: Place your Certificate of Registration from the Institute of Human Resource Management near the top of your CV. The posting explicitly requires it, so make it impossible to miss. If you are a graduate member or higher, state your membership number and status clearly.

    2. Show post-registration experience: The requirement is at least one year of experience after registration. On your CV, list each role with the start and end dates, and explicitly note that the experience was gained after your IHRM registration. Use bullet points to show what you did, such as processing leave, handling employee records, or supporting recruitment.

    3. Tailor your CV to the duties: The posting mentions implementing decisions within existing rules, supervising clerical officers, and performing analytical tasks. Use your CV to give examples of when you supervised staff or followed strict procedures. For instance, mention a time you managed a team of clerical workers or ensured compliance with HR policies.

    4. Prepare for public service questions: County government interviews often probe your knowledge of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) guidelines, the County Governments Act, and public service codes. Review these before the interview, and be ready to discuss how you would apply them in day-to-day HR work.

    5. Emphasize your analytical skills: The role involves 'simple tasks of analytical nature.' Give concrete examples of when you analyzed data or reports, such as preparing staff returns, analyzing leave records, or compiling HR statistics. Show that you can handle numbers and spreadsheets confidently.

    6. Highlight your supervisory experience: Since you will supervise clerical officers, the panel will want to see that you have led or coordinated others. Even if you have not held a formal supervisory title, describe times you trained new staff, delegated tasks, or checked the work of junior colleagues.

    7. Be meticulous with your application documents: The posting lists specific attachments: ID, KCPE and KCSE certificates, and evidence of experience. Double-check that you have included every single one. Missing documents are a common reason for disqualification in county recruitment, so use a checklist before you submit.

    8. Know the county context: Nyeri County has its own public service board and HR policies. Before the interview, research the county's development priorities and any recent HR initiatives. This will help you answer questions about how you can contribute to the county's goals and show that you are genuinely interested in serving the local community.
