    Job Description

    The Manager, Digital Financial Services (DFS) will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of technology-enabled financial solutions at BRAC Kenya Company Limited (BKCL). The role focuses on expanding outreach, enhancing customer experience, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring that digital solutions are inclusive, customer-centric, and impact-driven.

    The role balances technology innovation (“tech”) with human-centered delivery (“touch”), ensuring DFS solutions effectively serve low-income customers—particularly women and youth.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Lead the implementation of BKCL’s Digital Financial Services strategies and action plans in alignment with the organization’s overall business strategy.
    2. Provide strategic advisory and thought leadership to senior management on the use of DFS to improve livelihoods and financial inclusion outcomes.
    3. Conduct periodic reviews of DFS initiatives to assess impact, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals.
    4. Carry out market assessments to inform the development of innovative, market-led digital financial products and services.
    5. Design, pilot, refine, and scale DFS projects, including mobile payments, agent banking, and digital field tools.
    6. Develop DFS project plans covering customer needs analysis, business requirements, implementation timelines, reporting, and change management.
    7. Define functional and business requirements for DFS platforms and coordinate cross-functional teams for successful implementation.
    8. Monitor DFS project performance to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-impact delivery.
    9. Design and deploy monitoring surveys to evaluate customer experience and continuously improve DFS products and processes.
    10. Lead continuous training and hands-on support for BKCL staff on DFS business cases, value propositions, piloting, and scaling.
    11. Design and implement digital literacy and training programs for both staff and clients in collaboration with relevant departments.
    12. Document and share DFS lessons learned and best practices across BRAC International Microfinance (BI MF) countries.
    13. Develop and manage strategic partnerships with FinTechs, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), technology vendors, developers, and solution providers.
    14. Collaborate with regulators, universities, governments, think tanks, and fundraising teams to advance DFS innovation and impact.
    15. Work closely with marketing and communications teams to design campaigns that drive DFS adoption and active usage.
    16. Coordinate with BI MF digital transformation, IT, operations, and country teams to ensure seamless DFS implementation.
    17. Continuously monitor emerging digital technologies, platforms, and industry trends relevant to financial inclusion.
    18. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and service delivery through digital innovation.
    19. Promote and enforce BRAC’s safeguarding policies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment.
    20. Act as a key resource for safeguarding guidance and ensure safeguarding standards are integrated into all DFS activities.
    21. Follow safeguarding reporting procedures and encourage a culture of accountability and protection.

    Required Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Development Studies, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    2. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in: Digital Financial Services, Financial inclusion, Product development, Microfinance, payments platforms, or fintech.
    3. Demonstrated experience in DFS strategy development and business process transformation.
    4. Strong background in customer-centric research and data-driven decision-making.
    5. Hands-on experience implementing mobile money, agent banking, and digital field tools.
    6. Solid project management experience.
    7. Experience working with MNOs, FinTechs, financial institutions, or regulators is an added advantage.
    8. Strategic thinking and innovation in digital finance.
    9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    10. Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership management abilities.
    11. Proven change management and training facilitation skills.
    12. Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
    13. Commitment to financial inclusion, gender equity, and ethical development practices.
