Show Your Community Nutrition Impact on Paper

This role is about translating nutrition science into real change in health facilities and communities. Hiring panels want to see that you can run programs, counsel patients, and handle data without needing constant supervision.

    1. Lead with your CIND registration: Make your registration number visible at the top of your CV. For this post, being registered with the Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians is a hard requirement, and missing it will get your file set aside early.

    2. Quantify your field experience: Instead of listing duties, show scale: how many patients you counselled per week, how many mothers you reached in infant feeding sessions, or how many facilities you supported. Numbers make your one year of post-registration work feel solid.

    3. Prepare a therapeutic feeding story: The job involves monitoring therapeutic feeds. Have a concrete example ready of a time you prepared or supervised feeds for malnourished patients, including how you ensured accuracy and hygiene.

    4. Show data comfort: You will collect and compile nutrition data. Mention any tools you have used—Excel, DHIS, or even paper registers—and give an example of how you used data to spot a problem or track progress.

    5. Connect with county priorities: Nyeri has a strong focus on maternal and child health. Read up on the county's nutrition action plan and mention how your experience aligns with reducing stunting and improving breastfeeding practices.

    6. Practice your counselling pitch: You will counsel patients with specific needs. Be ready to explain how you would handle a diabetic patient who is resistant to diet changes or a mother struggling with exclusive breastfeeding.

    7. Prepare for a practical demonstration: Nutrition education often involves cooking demos or food models. Think through how you would teach a group with low literacy about balanced diets using local, affordable foods.

    8. Double-check your paperwork: The posting lists specific attachments: ID, KCPE and KCSE certificates, diploma certificate, and CIND registration evidence. Missing any one of these could disqualify you, so tick them off before you submit.
