Show Clinical Readiness Beyond Your License

County nursing posts draw many applicants with the same papers, so your CV and interview must prove you can handle the full scope of a rural health facility—from IMCI to delivery—without hand-holding.

    1. Map your CV to the duties: Use the exact phrases from the job description—IMCI, immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care, delivery, health education, referral, and record-keeping. Hiring panels scan for these terms, so mirror them in your experience bullets.

    2. Quantify your clinical exposure: Instead of 'provided nursing care', write 'managed an average of 20 deliveries per month' or 'conducted immunization outreaches reaching 300 children per session'. Numbers make your experience tangible.

    3. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect probes like 'How would you handle a postpartum haemorrhage?' or 'What do you do when a mother refuses PMTCT?'. Practice concise, stepwise answers that show your clinical judgment and communication skills.

    4. Highlight your community touch: County nursing is about more than bedside care—it's about health education and counselling. Give an example of a time you taught a community group or convinced a hesitant patient to follow treatment.

    5. Keep your documents in order: The board will check for your ID, KCPE/KCSE certificates, diploma, Nursing Council registration, and valid license. Photocopy everything, arrange them neatly, and carry originals for verification.

    6. Show you know the county context: Nyeri has a mix of rural and peri-urban populations. Mention any experience with outreach clinics, school health programs, or home visits—it signals you're ready for field work.

    7. Be clear on your registration status: If your license is up for renewal, renew it before applying. A lapsed license is an instant disqualifier, so double-check the expiry date.

    8. Mind the deadline and format: Submit before 29th September 2026, 5.00pm. Use the official application form only—handwritten or typed—and follow any instructions on the form to the letter. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
