    Job Description

    The Scientific Coordinator (CEMA) supports the coordination, planning, and execution of scientific, clinical, and research activities within the Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (CEMA) at the University of Nairobi. The role involves managing scientific networks, supporting clinical research projects, facilitating data analysis, and organizing high-level scientific events and capacity-building initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Coordinate day-to-day scientific and research activities within CEMA.

    * Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of clinical and epidemiological studies.

    * Facilitate data analysis using relevant statistical or analytical tools.

    * Manage and strengthen scientific networks in health and health research.

    * Organize international workshops, conferences, and capacity-building programs.

    * Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and communication of research outputs.

    * Liaise with internal and external partners to support collaborative research efforts.

    * Assist in preparing grant proposals, manuscripts, and technical reports.

    * Maintain timelines and ensure all research activities meet required standards and deadlines.


    Required Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Medicine and Surgery (MBChB), Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, or a related discipline.
    • A Master's degree in any of the following fields: Epidemiology, Public Health, Data Science, Health Policy or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in Medicine will be an added advantage.
    • A Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s degree, or Certificate in Clinical Research, Clinical Trials, or a related field.
    • Experience with data analysis using relevant statistical or analytical tools.
    • Demonstrated research experience, preferably in clinical studies.
    • Experience coordinating scientific networks in health and/or health research.
    • Demonstrated experience in coordinating international workshops, conferences, and capacity-strengthening initiatives.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
