    • Implement approved workaround procedures and business continuity processes during planned or unplanned system outages.
    • Participate in daily Service Desk stand-ups, operational reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of knowledge base articles, user guides, troubleshooting documentation, and operational support materials.

    Master the Service Desk Triage

This role is the frontline of HMIS support. Hiring managers will probe how you prioritize incidents, communicate with clinical staff, and document solutions under pressure.

    1. Showcase your HMIS/EMR experience: On your CV, highlight specific systems you've supported (e.g., OpenMRS, DHIS2) and quantify your impact, like reducing ticket resolution time by 20%.

    2. Prepare for scenario-based questions: Expect questions like 'A nurse reports a system error during patient registration. Walk me through your troubleshooting steps.' Practice structured problem-solving.

    3. Emphasize your communication skills: You'll train healthcare workers with varying tech skills. Give examples of how you've simplified technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

    4. Know your ITSM tools: Be ready to discuss your experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or Freshservice. Mention any ITIL certifications.

    5. Highlight your documentation skills: Bring samples of user guides or knowledge base articles you've created. This shows you can contribute to the team's resources.

    6. Show willingness to travel: The role requires extensive travel. Emphasize your flexibility and any past experience with field assignments.

    7. Understand healthcare workflows: Demonstrate knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow, and how HMIS fits into clinical processes.

    8. Ask smart questions: In interviews, ask about the team structure, current challenges with system adoption, and how success is measured for this role.
