    Job Description

    Light Up Hope is seeking a Temporary Reliever Driver to safely transport staff, VIPs, and project participants, as well as goods and documents, to approved destinations. The role involves maintaining vehicle condition, adhering to traffic laws, and supporting logistical tasks. The position is on an as-needed basis with a daily rate of KSh 10,000.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Safely drive NGO staff, VIPs, and project participants to approved destinations, including offices, field sites, and official meetings
    • Transport project goods, parcels, documents, and cargo, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
    • Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition
    • Keep vehicle documentation, such as registration, insurance, and maintenance records, up to date
    • Report any mechanical issues promptly and coordinate necessary repairs
    • Adhere to local traffic laws and organizational safety policies
    • Assist project teams with logistical tasks as needed, including fieldwork support
    • Be available during off-hours or emergencies to meet operational demands.
    • Build effective relationships with colleagues, external partners, and local authorities
    • Demonstrate empathy, respect, and adaptability in diverse work environments
    • Contribute to improving transport and logistical systems based on experience and best practices

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience of 3–5 years or more in professional driving is preferred
    • Proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles
    • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting
    • Strong understanding of local traffic laws and safety regulations
    • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle emergencies
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work as part of a team
    • Basic literacy and numeracy; computer literacy may be an advantage
    • Typically reports to the Procurement and Logistics Officer. No direct supervisory responsibilities, but plays a critical role in supporting organizational operations and logistics
