Show Your GL and QuickBooks Command Before the Interview

This role is a classic international accounting seat: you'll own the books end-to-end, and the hiring manager will be probing for real GL, AP/AR, and QuickBooks fluency. Bring proof you can reconcile, close, and report without hand-holding.

    1. Lead with your GL and QuickBooks wins: On your CV, put your General Ledger and QuickBooks experience front and center. Use numbers: how many accounts you reconciled, the size of the books you managed, and any month-end close timelines you hit. For example, "Reconciled 50+ GL accounts monthly for a $2M revenue portfolio."

    2. Prepare a QuickBooks walkthrough: Be ready to talk through your QuickBooks workflow: how you set up accounts, run reports, and handle AP/AR. If you've used QuickBooks Online, mention that. Practice explaining your process in clear, structured English.

    3. Brush up on GAAP specifics: Expect questions on revenue recognition, accruals, and reconciliations. Review the core GAAP principles and be ready to give a concrete example of how you applied them in a past role.

    4. Show your Excel muscle: Intermediate to Advanced Excel is required. Highlight your use of VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and any financial modeling. If you've built a reconciliation template or a cash flow tracker, mention it.

    5. Practice your English for finance: Since C1/Advanced English is mandatory, prepare to discuss your accounting experience fluently. Practice explaining complex financial concepts simply and confidently.

    6. Understand the international context: This role works on EST hours, so be ready to discuss how you manage time zones and communicate with remote teams. Show you're comfortable with a global work environment.

    7. Prepare for a practical test: Many accounting interviews include a short Excel or QuickBooks test. Practice common tasks like bank reconciliations, journal entries, and generating financial statements.

    8. Ask smart questions: Show genuine interest by asking about the company's accounting systems, the team structure, and the biggest challenges in the role. This signals you're thinking long-term.
