Showcase Your Media Savvy and Event Coordination Skills

This role sits at the intersection of corporate communications, media relations, and event marketing. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can juggle content creation, press coverage, and exhibition logistics without dropping the ball.

    1. Tailor your CV to highlight PR and communication achievements: Use specific examples of campaigns you've run, newsletters you've edited, or events you've coordinated. Quantify results where possible, like increasing event attendance or improving newsletter readership.

    2. Prepare a portfolio of your work: Bring samples of posters, newsletters, press releases, or social media content you've created. This gives tangible proof of your skills and creativity.

    3. Brush up on media relations: Be ready to discuss how you've built relationships with journalists or managed media coverage. Understand the local media landscape in Kenya.

    4. Demonstrate your organizational skills: Exhibitions and marketing activities require meticulous planning. Share examples of how you've managed logistics, timelines, and multiple stakeholders.

    5. Show your digital literacy: Since computer literacy is required, be prepared to discuss your proficiency with design software (like Canva or Adobe), content management systems, and social media platforms.

    6. Understand the university's brand: Research the University of Kabianga's current communications and identify areas for improvement. This shows initiative and genuine interest.

    7. Practice your writing: You'll be writing stories and editing newsletters, so expect a writing test or be ready to provide writing samples. Ensure your writing is clear, engaging, and error-free.

    8. Prepare for behavioral questions: Expect questions about handling tight deadlines, dealing with difficult stakeholders, or managing multiple projects. Use the STAR method to structure your answers.
