Show You Can Run Events Like a Pro

Banqueting is all about flawless execution under pressure. Hiring managers want to see that you've handled real events, managed teams, and kept clients happy.

    1. Highlight your event experience: On your CV, list specific events you've supervised—weddings, conferences, galas—with numbers (e.g., 200-guest wedding). Mention your role in setup, service, and breakdown.

    2. Prove your leadership: Give examples of how you've trained or directed F&B staff. Mention any mentoring or briefing sessions you've led.

    3. Show your HACCP knowledge: Be ready to discuss food safety protocols you've implemented. Mention any certifications or training.

    4. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect questions like 'How do you handle a client complaint during an event?' or 'How do you manage a sudden shortage of staff?' Practice clear, calm responses.

    5. Know your software: If you've used Micros or Opera, highlight it. If not, mention your willingness to learn quickly.

    6. Emphasize flexibility: Banqueting often requires evenings and weekends. Show you're available and enthusiastic about that.

    7. Detail your cost control: Talk about how you've minimized waste or managed inventory to save costs. Numbers impress.

    8. Prepare questions: Ask about the team size, typical events, and how success is measured. It shows you're serious.
