    Job Description

    Nova Pioneer is seeking an Apprentice Computing Teacher for Cambridge Year 7-9 at Athi River International. The role involves collaborating with a resident teacher to deliver engaging, enquiry-based lessons, assessing student progress, and infusing joy and passion for learning. The apprentice will also participate in professional development, supervise students, and support classroom administration.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Live the Nova Pioneer values and beliefs
    • Actively engage with staff, students, and parents between 7 am and 5 pm daily
    • Work collaboratively with the resident teacher to deliver impactful and engaging enquiry-based lessons
    • Co-create a classroom environment conducive to learning
    • Participate in professional growth opportunities including daily team meetings, weekly PD, and instructional coaching
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
    • Infuse joy and passion for learning into lessons
    • Set and communicate rigorous goals for students and provide feedback
    • Attend weekly feedback meetings with resident teachers and Deans
    • Participate in collaborative teams and committees, fulfill supervision duties
    • Coordinate, plan and lead an after school co-curricular activity
    • Plan, implement and supervise the curriculum
    • Lead 1-3 core content lessons (20-30% of time)
    • Manage student behavior and follow up on persistent misbehaviors
    • Provide accommodations and modifications for student success
    • Give feedback to curriculum design team
    • Keep classroom neat and tidy, prepare materials
    • Communicate with parents in collaboration with resident teacher
    • Attend parent conferences and rotation duties
    • Document and display student's work

    Required Qualifications

    • You have a TSC certificate
    • A relevant degree in Education
    • You have a minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience.
    • You have good working skills with technology such as G-Suite Applications Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc and Video Conferencing Platforms Zoom, Meet, Teams etc
    • You are a great communicator. You are able to provide clear and effective written and verbal communication.
    • You are flexible and open to change - you handle uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity well.
    • You are a problem solver - you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.
    • You are excited about our organisational culture—and in particular, you are fired up to challenge yourself by embracing mutual vulnerability and a firehose of feedback
    • You have a desire to further develop your leadership skills and apply them to transform the lives of African youth
