    Job Description

    The Deputy Finance Officer is answerable to the Finance Officer for the overall accounting and financial functions of a large section. The role involves implementing accounting systems, supervising finance operations, maintaining high accounting standards, and assisting in implementing financial policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Organize the accounting and finance unit to facilitate communication, delegation of authority, scope of responsibility, and segregation of duties.
    • Implement an adequate accounting system to maintain sound financial records, recognizing, classifying, posting, summarizing, and reporting transactions.
    • Oversee and supervise the overall finance function in the system.
    • Maintain high accounting standards and integrity within the department.
    • Assist the Finance Officer in implementing financial policies.
    • Supervise and develop staff in the department.
    • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
    • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

    Required Qualifications

    • CPA K
    • A Masters degree in Accounting/Finance or its equivalent from a recognized University
    • A Bachelors degree from a recognized University in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance or its equivalent.
    • At least Fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, five (5) as a Senior Accountant grade 13 or its equivalent
    • Registered member of ICPAK or an equivalent professional body
    • Practical knowledge of ICT in a relevant area is mandatory
