Show Mechanical Grit and Safety Discipline

This role is about keeping power running in tough, remote conditions. Hiring managers want proof you can handle hands-on mechanical work, follow safety rules to the letter, and stay calm under pressure.

    1. Highlight hands-on experience: On your CV, list specific engines and generators you've worked on, with details like models and power ratings. Mention any preventive maintenance routines you've performed, such as oil changes or filter replacements, and quantify your experience if possible.

    2. Emphasize safety awareness: Since the job stresses zero injuries, show your safety training and any certifications like OSHA or first aid. Describe how you've used PPE and reported hazards in past roles to demonstrate your commitment.

    3. Prepare for technical questions: Expect to be asked about troubleshooting steps for common engine faults, like starting issues or overheating. Review basic electrical systems and how to read schematics, as these are key parts of the job.

    4. Show physical readiness: The role involves lifting, bending, and working in tight spaces. Be ready to discuss your physical fitness and any experience with demanding work environments, such as construction or field service.

    5. Understand international travel: Since you need a valid passport and visas, mention any previous travel for work or willingness to deploy. Highlight your adaptability to new environments and cultures.

    6. Communicate clearly: English proficiency is required, so practice explaining technical issues in simple terms. This shows you can document maintenance actions and follow emergency procedures effectively.

    7. Research the company: Amentum works on mission-critical projects, often for government clients. Learn about their focus on safety and reliability, and align your answers with their values.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the typical deployment length, team size, and support available for remote assignments. This shows you're serious about the role and thinking long-term.
