Closing Deals in the Automotive Aftermarket

This role is about converting garage services and spare parts into recurring revenue. Hiring managers will look for hustle, customer rapport, and the ability to follow up without being pushy. Show them you can build a client list and keep it coming back.

    1. Prove your sales track record: On your CV, list any sales or marketing roles with numbers: how many clients you brought in, retention rates, or revenue growth. Even if it's small, concrete numbers beat vague claims. For example, 'Increased repeat customers by 20% in six months' shows you understand the core metric here.

    2. Know the product line: Brush up on basic car parts and garage services. You don't need to be a mechanic, but knowing the difference between a brake pad and a clutch will help you sound credible. Mention any automotive knowledge you have in your application.

    3. Show your follow-up system: Hiring managers want to know you won't drop leads. Describe how you track calls and follow-ups—maybe a simple spreadsheet or CRM. Explain your method for timely responses, as the posting stresses this.

    4. Highlight your communication style: This job is all about negotiation and telephone etiquette. Prepare examples of how you've handled difficult customers or closed a tough sale. Practice your pitch for the interview.

    5. Understand commission motivation: Since pay is commission-based, show you're self-driven and comfortable with variable income. Talk about your personal goals and how you plan to hit them. Emphasize your resilience and time management.

    6. Leverage social media: The posting mentions social media marketing. If you have experience promoting products on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, highlight it. Bring ideas for how you'd use social media to attract fleet customers or corporate accounts.

    7. Prepare for a practical test: Some interviews for sales roles include a mock pitch or role-play. Be ready to sell a garage service or a spare part to the interviewer. Practice your pitch on a friend beforehand.

    8. Dress and act professionally: The posting asks for professional appearance and a positive attitude. Wear business casual to the interview, arrive early, and bring extra copies of your CV, ID, and KRA pin. Show you're ready to represent the garage well.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
