Master the Hygiene Standards Behind Galley Operations

This role is about more than mopping floors—it's about upholding strict sanitation standards that keep a galley safe. Hiring managers will look for proof that you understand food service hygiene and can work fast without cutting corners.

    1. Show your sanitation know-how: On your CV, list any certifications or training in food safety, such as ServSafe or HACCP. Even if you don't have formal credentials, highlight your hands-on experience with cleaning chemicals and procedures.

    2. Emphasize speed and accuracy: Galley work is fast-paced, especially during meal service. Give examples of times you maintained cleanliness while under pressure, like handling a busy shift or a sudden spill.

    3. Highlight your attention to detail: Managers want someone who notices the small things—sticky surfaces, overlooked corners, or expired supplies. Describe a time your vigilance prevented a problem.

    4. Be ready to discuss safety protocols: Expect questions about handling chemicals, disposing of waste, and following emergency procedures. Review basic safety practices and be prepared to explain how you follow them.

    5. Show you can work independently: You'll often work without direct supervision. Share an example of a time you took initiative to keep an area clean without being told.

    6. Understand the physical demands: This job involves standing, bending, and lifting. Be honest about your physical capability and mention any experience with physically demanding work.

    7. Prepare for a background check: Since this role requires facility credentials, ensure your documents are in order. Be ready to provide references who can vouch for your reliability.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the cleaning schedule, the team structure, and what a typical day looks like. This shows genuine interest and helps you decide if the role fits.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
