    Job Description

    Umma University is seeking an experienced and strategic Learning Centre Coordinator to oversee the operations, administration, academic activities, and stakeholder engagement for the Garissa Learning Centre. The Coordinator will serve as the chief administrative, financial, and operational officer at the Centre, ensuring seamless academic delivery, compliance with university policies, strong community relationships, and optimal service to students and staff. The position requires a proactive leader with strong management experience, knowledge of university regulations, and the ability to coordinate academic and support functions efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Act as the chief finance and accounting officer of the Learning Centre, overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure uninterrupted teaching and learning.
    2. Coordinate all development plans for the Learning Centre, including infrastructure, staffing, and academic support systems.
    3. Explore and build community partnerships, serving as the main liaison between Umma University and local administration, government officials, and community stakeholders.
    4. Work closely with Deans of Schools to prepare timetables and coordinate student admission, registration, fees collection, examinations, and graduation processes.
    5. Liaise with the DVC–Academic Research and Student Affairs, Registrar–Academic and Student Affairs, and the Librarian to ensure the provision of high-quality education and academic support services.
    6. Safeguard and maintain all University assets and facilities at the Learning Centre.
    7. Sustain strong community relations and ensure alignment between Umma University’s mission and community expectations.
    8. Participate in policy formulation, risk management, and strategic development for the Learning Centre.
    9. Implement special projects and management directives to enhance the Centre’s growth and efficiency.
    10. Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports, memos, draft publications, brochures, and other documents to support informed decision-making by Management and Council.
    11. Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff at the Centre, ensuring compliance with University policies, procedures, and regulations.
    12. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or University Management.

    Required Qualifications

    1. Master’s degree in Social Sciences and/or Technology.
    2. At least 10 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 5 years at senior management level, preferably within a university or college.
    3. Thorough understanding of labour laws, CUE regulations, and the University Act.
    4. Successful completion of a Senior Management Course lasting not more than one month.
    5. Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and other computer applications.
    6. Excellent strategic planning, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    7. High attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
    8. Fluency in at least one local language.
