Show Leadership That Moves Patient Care Forward

This role is about more than managing nurses—it's about shaping how care is delivered across the hospital. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can think strategically, build consensus, and drive quality improvements.

    1. Lead with your track record: On your CV, highlight specific examples where you led nursing teams through change—whether it was implementing new protocols, improving patient outcomes, or managing a crisis. Quantify results where possible, like reduced infection rates or improved patient satisfaction scores.

    2. Know your numbers: Be ready to discuss staffing ratios, budget management, and quality metrics. Senior nursing roles often involve resource allocation, so show you can balance clinical needs with financial realities.

    3. Policy is your playground: Expect questions about how you've developed or implemented nursing policies. Prepare a story about a policy you created or revised, and the impact it had on care delivery or staff morale.

    4. Stakeholder savvy: You'll work with doctors, administrators, and external bodies. Give examples of how you've navigated competing interests and built collaborative relationships across departments.

    5. Show your strategic side: This isn't just an operational role. Be prepared to talk about your vision for nursing in the next 3-5 years—how you'd improve training, retention, or patient care models.

    6. Registration readiness: Have your Nursing Council of Kenya registration and practicing license details ready. Double-check that they're current before the interview.

    7. Communication that lands: As a head, you'll present to boards and speak to staff. Practice explaining complex issues simply, and be ready to give a mini-presentation on a nursing topic if asked.

    8. Cultural fit matters: Research Imara Mediplus's values and patient care philosophy. Show that your leadership style aligns with their mission, and bring questions that demonstrate your genuine interest in their work.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
