Show Your Technical Edge Before the Interview

This internship is a launchpad for your ICT career, but the hiring team wants proof you can handle real security work. Your application and interview must demonstrate hands-on skills, not just classroom theory.

    1. Tailor your CV to the role: Highlight any coursework, projects, or labs related to information security, networking, or systems. Use specific examples like setting up a firewall or conducting a vulnerability scan.

    2. Brush up on core security concepts: Be ready to discuss topics like encryption, access control, and common attack vectors. Review the CIA triad and basic security frameworks.

    3. Prepare for technical questions: Expect questions on network protocols, operating systems, and security tools. Practice explaining how you would secure a small network or respond to a phishing incident.

    4. Show your problem-solving skills: Interviewers may give you a scenario and ask how you would handle it. Think aloud and show your logical approach.

    5. Highlight your academic excellence: Since the requirement is First Class or Upper Second, make sure your transcripts and certificates are ready. If you're waiting for graduation, have your university letter ready.

    6. Demonstrate your passion for security: Mention any self-study, certifications, or CTF competitions you've participated in. Show that you stay updated with industry trends.

    7. Practice your communication: You'll need to explain technical issues to non-technical people. Practice simplifying complex ideas.

    8. Research the ICT Authority: Understand their mandate and recent projects. Show how your skills can contribute to their goals.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
