How to Apply: Interested and qualified candidates should visit the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet recruitment portal at recruitment.elgeyomarakwet.go.ke to submit their application.

Show Your Classroom Readiness in the Application

Hiring for ECDE caregiver roles is about spotting people who can handle young learners with patience and structure. Your application should show that you understand the daily rhythm of an ECDE class and can keep records that inspectors actually check.

    1. Highlight Your ECDE Certification Clearly: Make sure your certificate from KNEC or MOE is visible on your CV and application. If you have a diploma, put it in the education section with the institution and year. Hiring panels for county roles often screen for this first.

    2. Prove You Can Manage a Classroom: Even if you're new, describe any teaching practice, volunteer work, or church Sunday school experience where you handled groups of children. Mention how you kept them engaged and safe. That shows you're not just book-smart.

    3. Show Record-Keeping Skills: ECDE caregivers must keep schemes of work, lesson plans, and attendance registers. On your CV, list any experience with record keeping, even if it's from a different job. You could also mention that you're comfortable with basic computer applications, which is a requirement.

    4. Prepare for the Sign Language Requirement: If you're applying to Iten School for the Deaf, make sure your Kenya Sign Language certificate is clearly stated. If you're not applying there, still mention any sign language basics you know—it's a plus.

    5. Emphasize Your TSC Registration: The posting requires registration with the Teachers Service Commission. If you have it, put your TSC number on your CV. If you're in the process, say so. This is a hard requirement, so don't leave it out.

    6. Show You Understand Child Safety: The job involves ensuring safety and security of learners. Mention any first aid training you have, and give an example of how you'd handle a minor injury or an emergency. That reassures the panel you're alert.

    7. Talk About Community Engagement: The role includes organizing community mobilization meetings. If you've ever helped organize a community event, church function, or parent meeting, describe it. It shows you can work with parents and the community.

    8. Be Ready for a Practical Interview: County interviews for ECDE roles often include a demonstration or questions about handling children. Practice explaining how you'd handle a crying child, a fight, or a child with special needs. Keep your answers calm and child-centered.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
