Show Command of Public Health Law and Strategy

This is a senior public health leadership role, so the hiring panel will be looking for evidence that you can enforce regulations, manage programmes, and lead teams. Your application must demonstrate not just clinical knowledge but also strategic planning and policy implementation experience.

    1. Lead with your regulatory enforcement record: Highlight specific instances where you successfully enforced public health laws or standards. Quantify outcomes, such as the number of inspections conducted or compliance improvements achieved.

    2. Emphasize your programme management experience: Describe projects you have overseen from planning to evaluation, including budgets, timelines, and results. Use the STAR method to structure your examples.

    3. Showcase your research and data skills: Public health decisions rely on data. Mention any research you have conducted, surveys you have designed, or data analysis you have performed to inform policy or interventions.

    4. Demonstrate your ability to mobilize resources: Give examples of successful grant proposals, partnerships, or resource allocation strategies you have led. This shows you can sustain programmes financially.

    5. Prove your ICT integration skills: In today's digital age, public health departments need leaders who can leverage technology. Talk about any health information systems, mobile tools, or data dashboards you have implemented.

    6. Prepare for questions on staff development: As a mentor and coach, you will be expected to build capacity. Share examples of how you have trained or mentored junior staff, and the impact it had on performance.

    7. Align your qualifications clearly: Ensure your CV explicitly lists your degrees, certificates, and courses, matching the requirements. Highlight your Master's degree and Senior Management Course certificate.

    8. Know the county's health priorities: Research Machakos County's specific public health challenges and programmes. Tailor your application to show how your expertise can address their local needs.
