Show You Can Lead Audits from Day One

This is a senior internal audit role at a university, so the panel will be looking for someone who can take charge of assignments, supervise staff, and improve audit processes. Your application must demonstrate not just technical accounting skill, but leadership and a track record of delivering audit reports that drive change.

    1. Lead with your CPA K and Master's: Place your CPA K and Master's degree in Accounting or Finance prominently on your CV. The panel will screen for these first, so make them impossible to miss.

    2. Quantify your audit experience: For each role, state the number of audits you led, the size of teams you supervised, and the value of budgets you reviewed. Numbers make your nine years of experience concrete.

    3. Show your ICPAK membership status: Clearly state that you are a registered member of ICPAK in good standing. If you have CISA or CIA, highlight those as added advantages.

    4. Prove your ICT skills: Mention specific audit software, data analytics tools, or ERP systems you have used. Practical ICT knowledge is a requirement, so give examples of how you've used technology in audits.

    5. Prepare for behavioural questions: Expect questions about how you've handled audit findings, dealt with resistance from auditees, and managed teams. Use the STAR method to structure your answers.

    6. Understand the university context: Research University of Kabianga and the challenges facing public universities in Kenya, such as funding constraints and compliance requirements. Tailor your answers to show you understand their environment.

    7. Polish your report writing: As an auditor, you'll write reports for management. Bring samples of your audit reports to the interview, and be ready to discuss how you made them clear and actionable.

    8. Follow the application instructions exactly: Send both hard copy and electronic PDF with merged documents, and ensure your referees send their letters within three weeks. Missing these details could disqualify you despite your qualifications.
