    Job Description

    Umma University is seeking a Lecturer in Literature English to deliver lectures, conduct research, and support student development. The role involves teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising research projects, and participating in academic governance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and deliver lectures and academic materials in accordance with approved curricula; conduct assessments including examinations and coursework evaluations.
    • Conduct research contributing to advancement of knowledge; publish research findings.
    • Participate in development and review of academic curricula; contribute to improvement of teaching methodologies.
    • Conduct research and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed academic journals; participate in research projects and conferences.
    • Supervise undergraduate research projects and assist in postgraduate supervision; provide academic guidance and mentorship.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees.
    • Deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; prepare course outlines, teaching materials, and assessment tools.
    • Participate in research grant applications and research funding initiatives, and ensure proper use of academic facilities and teaching resources.
    • Utilize teaching facilities including lecture rooms, laboratories, and academic equipment.
    • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students; support student research and academic development.
    • Participate in academic conferences and professional forums; engage with industry and professional bodies.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Literature English or related field from a recognized university.
    • PhD in Literature English or related field will be an added advantage.
    • At least 3 years of teaching experience at university level.
    • Demonstrated research and publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
