    Additional Information

How to Apply: Send your application to the Registrar (Academics Affairs and Research) at registraraa@dkut.ac.ke or visit the application link provided on this page to submit your application.

Show Your Research Readiness in Computer Science

This scholarship is a gateway to a Ph.D., so the selection panel will be looking for evidence that you can handle rigorous research, not just coursework. Your application should demonstrate your academic strength and your potential to contribute to the university's research agenda.

    1. Highlight your academic record: Your Second-Class Honors Upper Division is the baseline, but you need to show more. Include your transcripts and any academic awards or recognitions. If you have a strong project or thesis from your undergraduate, describe it in detail.

    2. Showcase your technical skills: Computer Science is a practical field. List the programming languages, tools, and technologies you are proficient in. If you have any certifications (e.g., AWS, Google, Microsoft), include them.

    3. Demonstrate research potential: Mention any research projects, publications, or conference presentations you have been part of. If you have none, describe a research idea you would like to pursue for your M.Sc.

    4. Prepare for the interview: If you are shortlisted, you will likely have an interview. Be ready to discuss your academic background, your motivation for pursuing an M.Sc and Ph.D., and how you plan to contribute as a graduate assistant.

    5. Understand the bonding terms: The scholarship comes with a bond. Make sure you read and understand the terms and conditions. Be prepared to commit to the university for the duration of your studies and possibly beyond.

    6. Get strong references: Your referees should be academics who can speak to your abilities. Choose professors who know you well and can provide specific examples of your work.

    7. Tailor your application: Do not send a generic application. Address the specific requirements of this scholarship. Mention why you want to study at Dedan Kimathi University and how your research interests align with the university's strengths.

    8. Proofread everything: Spelling and grammar errors can undermine your credibility. Have someone else review your application before you submit it.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
