    About Great Lions Limited

Great Lions Limited is a fast-rising Kenyan engineering and construction company specializing in high-performance HVAC systems, mechanical installations, and integrated building solutions across East Africa. Known for its precision-driven approach and technical excellence, the company has worked on landmark retail, commercial, and industrial projects that demand cutting-edge mechanical engineering solutions.

At Great Lions, innovation meets integrity — our engineers are the driving force behind our reputation for excellence, safety, and sustainability. If you are an experienced professional passionate about engineering leadership and project delivery, this is your call to lead, inspire, and build with purpose.

    ⚙️ Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical and HVAC projects — from conceptual design and procurement to installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

This is not a desk job. It’s a leadership role designed for someone who thrives in the field, manages multidisciplinary teams, and ensures every project runs like a finely tuned machine.

Your mission: to deliver world-class mechanical solutions that meet international standards while optimizing efficiency, safety, and client satisfaction.

    🧩 Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee site operations including manpower planning, material procurement, and day-to-day coordination to ensure project efficiency.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders — main contractors, architects, consultants, and client representatives — by attending site meetings and implementing necessary actions.
    • Manage projects according to budget, technical specifications, and deadlines while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
    • Prepare and present monthly cost and progress reports to senior management for financial tracking and decision-making.
    • Handle contractual matters related to disputes, time extensions, and project scope adjustments in alignment with FIDIC standards.
    • Control project cash flow to ensure sufficient funding for smooth operations.
    • Work closely with the QS team to track work variations and evaluate acceleration costs.
    • Develop and enforce quality control policies to maintain construction and installation integrity.
    • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team, particularly in air-conditioning systems (Chillers, VRV, HVAC).
    • Promote health and safety (H&S) compliance among all team members and ensure zero accident culture on-site.

    Required Qualifications

    🎓 Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in large-scale HVAC or mechanical projects.
    • Strong understanding of construction and shop drawings.
    • Excellent command of project management principles — PMP certification or equivalent is an added advantage.
    • Conversant with FIDIC contract management frameworks.

Proficient in MS Office applications and modern engineering tools.

    💼 Personal Attributes

    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills when managing clients and contractors.
    • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

💰 Estimated Salary Range (CareerSasa Benchmark – 2025)

Based on current Kenyan industry data and senior engineering roles within Nairobi’s construction sector:

    KES 250,000 – 400,000 per month (gross)

This range varies depending on the project scope, prior experience, and certification level.

🏗️ Why Join Great Lions Limited?

    • Be part of a company building some of Kenya’s most modern infrastructure.
    • Enjoy a culture that values precision, teamwork, and long-term professional growth.
    • Lead high-value HVAC and mechanical installation projects across diverse sectors.
    • Work with a team that values safety, ethics, and innovation.

💡 Before You Apply — Read This

At CareerSasa, we believe applying for your dream job is not about luck — it’s about preparation, strategy, and precision.

Here are a few expert-backed tips to help your application stand out in Kenya’s competitive engineering job market.

⚙️ CareerSasa Application Tips (For Engineers Who Want to Win)

1️⃣ Tailor Your CV Like a Blueprint

Don’t send a generic CV. Customize it to show relevant project experience — HVAC, mechanical systems, or FIDIC-based contracts. Recruiters spend less than 7 seconds scanning a CV. Make your first impression count.

    2️⃣ Quantify Your Achievements

Instead of writing “led several projects,” say:

“Led 3 major HVAC projects valued at over KES 400M, achieving 98% completion rate within budget.”

Numbers tell your story louder than adjectives.

3️⃣ Show Contract & Budget Mastery

Mention your ability to manage budgets, cash flow, and scope changes. Employers value engineers who combine technical precision with financial discipline.

4️⃣ Highlight Safety & Quality Initiatives

Show your contribution to zero-incident safety culture or ISO certification. In 2025, 89% of engineering employers in Kenya say HSE compliance is a top hiring factor.

5️⃣ Emphasize Leadership & Team Mentorship

Mention how you trained or supervised junior engineers. Great Lions values mentorship — not just management.

    6️⃣ Include Professional References

Attach credible references from contractors, consultants, or clients. It’s a subtle but powerful credibility move.

    7️⃣ Prepare for Technical Interviews

    Expect scenario-based questions like:

“How would you manage time slippage in a multi-phase HVAC project?”

Be ready with specific examples and data.

8️⃣ Add a Short Project Portfolio

Attach 1–2 pages of key project summaries with metrics. It’s a professional engineer’s calling card.
