Show Safety Discipline and Practical Skills on Your CV

This role is about more than lifting and carrying—it's about working safely on a military site with strict protocols. Hiring managers will look for evidence that you can follow procedures and handle tools properly.

    1. Highlight your safety training: Mention any certifications like First Aid, COSHH, or manual handling. Even if you haven't done formal courses, describe how you've applied safety practices on past jobs.

    2. Detail your construction experience: List specific tasks you've done—mixing concrete, using power tools, assisting electricians or plumbers. Use numbers where possible, like 'supported 5-person team on residential builds'.

    3. Show you can handle physical demands: Be honest about your ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather. Give examples of physically demanding work you've done consistently.

    4. Emphasize your driving license: You need Class B, C1 & C. Make sure your license is valid and mention it clearly. If you have experience driving larger vehicles, say so.

    5. Prepare for safety questions: Expect questions about risk assessment, PPE use, and emergency procedures. Think of a time you spotted a hazard and what you did.

    6. Show you can follow instructions: Military environments require strict adherence. Give an example where you followed complex instructions exactly, even if it was slower.

    7. Be ready to work flexible hours: The job mentions call-backs and weekend work. Show you're flexible and reliable, with examples of working shifts or overtime.

    8. Research BATUK: Understand it's a British Army unit. Mention any knowledge of military protocols or experience working in disciplined environments. This shows genuine interest.
