Master the Tender and Proposal Process

This role sits at the intersection of sales and engineering, so your ability to translate technical requirements into compelling proposals will be tested. Hiring managers will look for evidence that you can handle RFPs, RFQs, and tenders with precision and commercial awareness.

    1. Showcase your RFP experience: On your CV, detail specific RFPs or tenders you have supported, including your role, the solution designed, and the outcome. Quantify where possible, such as the value of the bid or the win rate.

    2. Prepare a portfolio of solution designs: Bring examples of network diagrams, BoQs, and technical specifications you have created. Be ready to walk through your design process and the trade-offs you considered.

    3. Demonstrate commercial acumen: Understand how your technical decisions impact cost, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Be prepared to discuss how you balance technical excellence with commercial viability.

    4. Brush up on emerging technologies: Stay current with trends like 5G, IoT, cloud, and SD-WAN. Show how you have recommended or implemented new technologies to drive business growth.

    5. Practice customer presentations: You will be engaging customers directly, so prepare a short technical presentation on a sample solution. Focus on clarity, confidence, and addressing customer pain points.

    6. Highlight cross-functional collaboration: Provide examples of working with sales, engineering, and operations teams to deliver a solution. Emphasize your communication and stakeholder management skills.

    7. Understand the local market: Research Jamii Telecommunications and the Kenyan telecom landscape. Be ready to discuss how your experience aligns with their customer base and network infrastructure.

    8. Prepare for technical deep-dives: Expect questions on network architecture, capacity planning, and risk management. Review key concepts and be ready to solve a hypothetical scenario on the spot.
