How to Apply: Send your application to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) careers portal or visit the BCG careers website to submit your CV and cover letter for the Staffing Coordinator role in Nairobi.

Show You Can Balance People and Pipeline

Staffing coordinators sit between consultants and project demands, so hiring teams look for proof you can juggle competing priorities, keep data clean, and communicate with senior stakeholders. Your application should show you understand both the human side and the operational side of deployment.

    1. Quantify your coordination wins: On your CV, use numbers to show scale—how many people you scheduled, how many projects you staffed, or how you improved utilization. For example, "Managed staffing for 50+ consultants across 20 concurrent projects." This gives the interviewer a concrete sense of your capacity.

    2. Prepare a story about a tricky staffing conflict: Think of a time two managers wanted the same person or a project needed a skill you didn't have. Walk through how you assessed options, communicated trade-offs, and reached a solution. BCG values pragmatic, reason-minded people who can handle ambiguity.

    3. Brush up on Excel and reporting: You'll produce weekly reports and track metrics like utilization and lead time. Be ready to discuss pivot tables, v-lookups, and how you turn raw data into a clear summary. If you've built a dashboard, mention it.

    4. Show you can handle confidential information: Staffing involves sensitive career data and project economics. Give an example where you maintained discretion, and emphasize your integrity. Interviewers will probe your judgment in delicate situations.

    5. Practice influencing senior stakeholders: You'll advise Partners and consultants on staffing decisions. Prepare a short example of when you persuaded a senior person to adopt a different view. Focus on how you built the business case and communicated it.

    6. Demonstrate a global mindset: BCG is a global firm, and you'll liaise with African counterparts. Mention any experience working across cultures or time zones, and show you're comfortable with virtual collaboration.

    7. Connect your HR background to business outcomes: Don't just list HR tasks—link them to business results. For instance, "Reduced time-to-fill by 20% by streamlining the staffing process." This shows you think beyond the HR silo.

    8. Ask smart questions about the role: In the interview, ask about the team structure, how staffing decisions are made, and what metrics the leadership cares about most. This shows you're already thinking like a strategic partner, not just an administrator.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
