Master the Courtroom and the File

This role demands more than just knowing the law—it's about managing cases from start to finish with precision and confidence. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can hit the ground running, so show them you're ready to handle the pressure of a busy litigation practice.

    1. Showcase your drafting skills: Your CV should highlight specific pleadings, submissions, and legal opinions you've drafted. Be ready to discuss the complexity of those documents and the outcomes they achieved. Bring samples to the interview if possible.

    2. Demonstrate debt recovery experience: Debt recovery is a key part of this role. Prepare to talk about your experience with demand letters, negotiating payment plans, and pursuing recovery proceedings. Quantify your successes, like the value of debts recovered.

    3. Prove your court presence: Confident courtroom presentation is essential. Share examples of hearings or trials you've attended and how you handled them. Practice articulating your arguments clearly and concisely.

    4. Highlight your e-filing skills: Kenyan courts are increasingly digital. If you've used e-filing systems, mention them specifically. If not, show your willingness to learn quickly and your comfort with technology.

    5. Emphasize your ability to work independently: This role requires minimal supervision. Provide examples of times you managed cases on your own, made decisions, and took responsibility for outcomes.

    6. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect questions about how you'd handle a difficult client, a tight deadline, or a complex legal issue. Think through your approach to problem-solving and ethical dilemmas.

    7. Show your organizational skills: Managing multiple cases and deadlines is critical. Talk about your systems for tracking court dates, limitation periods, and client communications. A well-organized advocate is a reliable one.

    8. Know the firm and the role: Research Orchid HR Outsourcing and their clients. Understand the types of litigation and debt recovery matters they handle. Tailor your questions to show your genuine interest and strategic thinking.
