Show Your Kitchen Command in the Application

This role is about running a section with precision and discipline. Hiring managers will look for proof that you can handle pressure, enforce hygiene, and deliver consistent quality.

    1. Lead with your section experience: On your CV, highlight the specific sections you've run (e.g., sauce, pastry, butchery) and the volume you handled. Use numbers where possible, like covers per service or team size.

    2. Prove your hygiene discipline: Mention any food safety certifications (e.g., HACCP) and give a concrete example of how you maintained cleanliness and enforced standards in your last kitchen.

    3. Show you can handle stress: Describe a busy service where you kept your cool, delegated tasks, and delivered quality. This reassures them you won't crack under pressure.

    4. Tailor your CV to the hotel industry: Emphasize your experience in hotels, not just standalone restaurants. Mention the type of hotel (e.g., 5-star, resort) and the range of cuisines you've handled.

    5. Prepare for practical questions: Expect to be asked about your cooking techniques, menu ideas, and how you'd handle a sudden shortage of ingredients. Practice clear, concise answers.

    6. Highlight your teamwork: This role works closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs. Give an example of how you've contributed to menu planning or collaborated with other sections.

    7. Show flexibility: Since the role requires 24-hour rotating shifts, mention your willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Give an example of a time you adapted to a changing schedule.

    8. Polish your application documents: Ensure your CV is clean, error-free, and includes all requested documents. A well-presented application shows the same care you'd bring to the kitchen.
