How to Apply: All applications should be submitted on or before Thursday 27th August 2026 by 4:30PM in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the left side the category (position) which they fall and addressed to: The Board Secretary/CEO Kwale County Public Service Board P.O BOX 4 – 80403 KWALE.
This role sits at the heart of county legal affairs, so the panel will be looking for someone who can move between litigation, drafting, and advisory work without missing a beat. Your application should prove you have handled complex legal matters and can protect the county's interests under pressure.
1. Lead with your litigation record: Highlight the types of cases you've handled, the courts you've appeared in, and any notable outcomes. For a senior role, they want to see you can manage a caseload and think strategically in the courtroom.
2. Show your drafting range: Be specific about the legal documents you've drafted—contracts, pleadings, bills, regulations. Give examples that show you can handle both transactional and legislative drafting.
3. Emphasize compliance and risk management: This role is big on ensuring the county follows the law. Talk about times you've conducted legal audits, identified risks, and implemented mitigation measures.
4. Prove your advisory skills: You'll be giving legal advice to county departments. Share examples of complex legal questions you've answered and how your advice shaped decisions.
5. Highlight your negotiation wins: The job involves settling disputes out of court. Describe a time you negotiated a settlement that saved your organization time or money.
6. Show you know the public sector: Understanding how county governments work is a plus. Mention any experience with government bodies, constitutional law, or public procurement.
7. Prepare for the Chapter Six vetting: Be ready to provide clearance certificates (HELB, KRA, EACC, etc.) and talk about your integrity. This is a standard for public office.
8. Tailor your CV to the job description: Use the same keywords from the ad—strategic plans, compliance, legal audits, pre-litigation disputes—so the panel sees you're a perfect fit.
