Show Your Storytelling Chops Before the Interview

This role lives at the intersection of corporate comms and grassroots impact. The hiring team will want to see that you can turn program data into narratives that move donors and partners. Bring proof, not just promises.

    1. Curate a portfolio of your best work: Pull together 3-5 samples that show range: a press release, a social media campaign, an annual report section, or a video script. For each, note the objective, your role, and the measurable outcome. This gives the panel something concrete to probe.

    2. Know the Foundation's world: Safal MRM Foundation operates in building materials and community development. Research their recent projects, partners, and any media coverage. Walk in with two or three thoughtful questions about their impact stories.

    3. Prepare a mini communication strategy: Pick one of their likely audiences (e.g., donors, beneficiaries, or the public) and sketch a 90-day plan. Show you can think beyond a single post to a coherent narrative arc.

    4. Practice translating jargon: You'll be asked to explain complex topics simply. Take a technical concept from their sector (like sustainable construction) and practice explaining it in plain language that a donor would understand.

    5. Show your media relations muscle: If you have media contacts, name them. If not, talk about how you've pitched stories successfully. Be ready to discuss how you'd handle a crisis or a negative story.

    6. Demonstrate digital fluency: Be ready to talk about specific tools you've used: content calendars, analytics dashboards, email platforms. Bring examples of how you used data to tweak a campaign.

    7. Highlight your event coordination experience: This role includes planning events. Share a specific example of an event you managed from concept to execution, including logistics and vendor management.

    8. Show you're a team player: The role works closely with the Foundation Head and cross-functional teams. Give an example of a time you collaborated with others to achieve a communications goal, and what you learned.
