The CRRD Data Analyst will join the METAL Unit team to bring together data across core business systems, supporting data-driven insights for CRRD staff. The role focuses on responding to leadership inquiries about utilizing complex internal datasets to offer management insights into strategic goals and resource allocation. The analyst will build live dashboards and provide thought partnership to METAL leadership on data access and visualization.

    • Create and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reports to track program and strategy performance, pulling from grants, finance, and program data from across IRC's core business systems (Integra, OTIS, Salesforce, PID).
    • Analyze and interpret large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform global program strategies.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams (programs, fundraising, marketing, finance) to ensure data is well represented to meet stakeholder needs.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance data collection and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with global goals.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging analytics tools, and bring innovative ideas for improving the team's capabilities.

    • Demonstrable experience planning and executing complex analytics projects across multiple stakeholders.
    • More than two years of professional experience with PowerBI.
    • Strong data visualization and communication skills: ability to "tell a story" with numbers in a variety of formats: PowerPoints, dashboards, memos, and presentations.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
    • Curiosity and willingness to explore complex and ambiguous problems and deliver actionable insights through both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
    • Highly collaborative and pro-active colleague with a talent for delivering results with cross-functional groups.
    • Strong attention to detail & commitment to a high standard of work product.

    Show Your Dashboard Storytelling Chops

This role lives at the intersection of data and decision-making. The hiring team wants to see that you can turn messy enterprise data into clear, actionable insights for leadership. Your application should prove you've done this before, not just that you know the tools.

    1. Tailor your CV to the data stack: Highlight your hands-on experience with Databricks, dbt, Python, SQL, and Power BI. Use specific projects where you built dashboards or pipelines. If you've used these tools in humanitarian or development contexts, make that prominent.

    2. Prepare a portfolio of dashboards: Bring examples of dashboards you've created, especially in Power BI. Be ready to explain the design choices, the data sources, and how the dashboards influenced decisions. If you have a live demo, even better.

    3. Practice telling a story with data: You'll be asked to interpret a dataset and present insights. Practice structuring a narrative: what's the key takeaway, why it matters, and what actions should follow. Use the STAR method for behavioral questions.

    4. Understand the humanitarian sector: Familiarize yourself with common metrics in humanitarian programs, like reach, outcome, and cost-efficiency. Show you understand the context of grants, program data, and the importance of data for donor reporting.

    5. Show your collaboration skills: This role works with fundraising, finance, and programs. Give examples of how you've worked with non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver solutions. Emphasize your communication skills.

    6. Be ready to discuss data governance: The METAL Unit leads data governance for CRRD. Show you understand data quality, data ownership, and the importance of consistent data standards. Mention any experience with data governance frameworks.

    7. Highlight your problem-solving approach: The job involves ambiguous problems. Describe a time you tackled a vague request and turned it into a concrete analysis. Show your curiosity and willingness to explore.

    8. Know the tools inside out: Be prepared for technical questions on SQL, Python, and Power BI. Review common functions, performance optimization, and how to connect to different data sources. If you have Databricks experience, emphasize it.
