    Job Description

The successful candidate will join our Integration team as an independent QA resource for the software integration development team, ensuring the quality, reliability, and robustness of our integration solutions for clients across their full lifecycle. You will analyse requirements and acceptance criteria, derive appropriate test cases, and execute functional, API, message-level, integration, and end-to-end tests across synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven scenarios. Beyond finding defects, you will help the team prevent them — identifying recurring weaknesses, building reusable test standards, and constructively challenging approaches where quality gaps exist. You will work independently across multiple integration assignments, in close collaboration with Technical Project Leads (TPLs), senior developers, and the Team Lead.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Take ownership of defining the right test approach and preventing defects, not only detecting them.
    • Act as an independent internal QA resource for the Integration team across multiple assignments.
    • Analyse requirements and acceptance criteria, critically assess them for gaps and testability, and derive appropriate test cases.
    • Support regression and release testing, ensuring changes are verified thoroughly before they reach production.
    • Document defects with clear evidence, verify corrections, and coordinate retesting internally with developers and TPLs.
    • Develop and maintain automated integration tests, contributing to a sustainable and repeatable testing capability.
    • Look beyond individual defects to identify recurring or systemic weaknesses across integration solutions, and document quality gaps together with their impact and concrete recommendations.
    • Address findings directly with the responsible TPLs or senior developers, explain where improvement is needed, and constructively challenge existing approaches when relevant gaps are identified.
    • Provide recurring quality summaries to the Team Lead and proactively escalate critical risks and recurring quality problems.
    • Create reusable test standards, templates, and checklists for the Integration team.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance or testing, ideally with a focus on integration solutions.
    • Proven experience testing APIs and message-based integrations, including designing and executing test cases at both the API and message level.
    • Experience validating synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven integration scenarios end-to-end.
    • Solid understanding of common integration technologies and message formats e.g. REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, XPath.
    • Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
    • Experience supporting regression and release testing within structured delivery processes.
    • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent QA certification is a plus.
    • Experience testing integrations built on platforms such as SAP Cloud Integration, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Dell Boomi, or similar.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines e.g. GitLab, Azure DevOps and integrating automated tests into build and release processes.
    • Basic scripting skills e.g. JavaScript, Python, or Groovy for test automation and data preparation.
    • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate findings clearly, honestly, and based on evidence.
    • Strong sense of ownership — takes responsibility for defining the appropriate test approach rather than only executing predefined test cases.
    • Structured and analytical problem-solving approach, with a critical eye for gaps in requirements, acceptance criteria, and integration logic.
    • Preventive mindset — focused on avoiding defects, not only finding them.
    • Proactive communicator, comfortable escalating critical risks and recurring quality problems in a timely manner.
    • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills, able to address findings directly with TPLs, senior developers, and the Team Lead in a respectful and professional way.
    • Be confident enough to challenge existing approaches.

Show Your Test Approach Before You Walk In

This role is about owning quality, not just executing scripts. Hiring managers will probe how you design test cases, spot gaps in requirements, and prevent defects before they happen.

    1. Prove your API testing depth: On your CV, list specific API testing projects where you designed and executed test cases at both API and message level. Mention tools like Postman or SoapUI and give examples of how you validated synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven flows.

    2. Show your automation mindset: Even if you're not a developer, highlight any scripting skills (JavaScript, Python, Groovy) and experience with CI/CD pipelines. Describe how you integrated automated tests into build and release processes.

    3. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect questions like 'How would you test an event-driven integration?' or 'How do you handle a requirement that isn't testable?' Practice structured answers that show your analytical approach.

    4. Bring a portfolio of test artifacts: If possible, bring sample test plans, test cases, or defect reports from past projects. This demonstrates your ability to document clearly and communicate findings with evidence.

    5. Understand the integration landscape: Familiarize yourself with common integration platforms (SAP Cloud Integration, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Dell Boomi) and be ready to discuss how you'd test on such platforms.

    6. Highlight your preventive mindset: Share examples where you identified systemic weaknesses or recurring defects and recommended improvements. Show that you don't just find bugs but also help prevent them.

    7. Practice clear communication: Since you'll work with TPLs, senior developers, and the Team Lead, be ready to explain technical findings in plain language. Emphasize your ability to challenge approaches respectfully.

    8. Know the SDLC and testing lifecycle: Be prepared to discuss regression and release testing within structured delivery processes. Show that you understand the full lifecycle from requirements analysis to production support.
