Master the Technical Screen: From Elevator Specs to AutoCAD Proof

This role lives at the intersection of engineering precision and customer expectations. Hiring managers will probe how you translate vague customer needs into concrete product specifications, and whether you can back your claims with real AutoCAD and MS Office fluency.

    1. Show your elevator domain knowledge: Even if your experience is not exactly in elevators, highlight any exposure to vertical transportation, mechanical systems, or complex electromechanical products. Mention specific projects where you handled non-standard requirements or custom engineering.

    2. Prove your AutoCAD skills with a portfolio: Bring a few samples of your AutoCAD drawings or models to the interview. Be ready to explain how you used them to support engineering decisions or communicate with stakeholders.

    3. Prepare for scenario-based questions: Expect questions like 'How would you handle a customer request that deviates from standard product specs?' Practice structuring your answer around cost, lead time, and compliance.

    4. Brush up on MS Office efficiency: You'll be creating product specifications and costings, so be prepared to demonstrate advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) and PowerPoint for presenting technical proposals.

    5. Emphasize cross-cultural collaboration: This role works with global colleagues across time zones. Share examples of how you've successfully collaborated with international teams or managed communication barriers.

    6. Understand the full project lifecycle: From site surveys to handover to maintenance, be ready to discuss how you ensure technical accuracy at each stage. Highlight any experience with project coordination or handover processes.

    7. Align with safety and environmental standards: Show that you are well-versed in local codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance. Mention any relevant certifications or training.

    8. Ask smart questions: In your interview, ask about the typical non-standard cases they handle, the tools they use for traffic analysis, and how the team collaborates with supply line and installation. This shows genuine interest and technical curiosity.
