As a Data Analyst, you will turn data into clear, actionable insights that support business decisions across CloudFactory. You will build and maintain reports and dashboards, identify trends and data quality issues, and collaborate with stakeholders and data engineers to keep our data reliable and useful. This is a great opportunity to grow your data analytics expertise within a mission-driven, fast-scaling organization. This is a full-time, fixed-term employee position with an expected duration of 9 months.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide insights relevant to specific tasks or projects, developing reports and dashboards focused on answering business questions or KPIs.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and outliers, presenting findings clearly to stakeholders and team members.
    • Recommend initial actions or next steps based on analysis.
    • Maintain accuracy of assigned reports and dashboards, monitoring for data discrepancies or inconsistencies.
    • Analyze the root cause of identified data inaccuracies and coordinate with data engineers for correction.
    • Provide initial troubleshooting and support to users encountering issues with reports or dashboards.
    • Identify and flag data quality issues within your area of analysis, applying data quality checks to catch errors, inconsistencies, or missing values.
    • Document and report data quality issues to senior analysts or data quality specialists.
    • Follow established data governance procedures regarding data access and usage.
    • Design and develop basic data models for well-defined analytics requirements, applying data normalization techniques.
    • Write DBT scripts to perform data transformations, including filtering, aggregation, and joining tables.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and identify potential model improvements.
    • Create clear, well-designed visualizations for data analysis tasks, selecting appropriate chart types for the data and insights.
    • Apply dashboard design principles to organize multiple visualizations for effective storytelling.
    • Document data sources and steps used to create visualizations.
    • Adhere to established data security and compliance protocols while handling data.
    • Follow data access control procedures and complete required data security and compliance training.

    Required Qualifications

    • Good understanding of data analytics concepts, data visualization, and business intelligence tools.
    • Proficient in SQL for querying and extracting data from the data warehouse.
    • Advanced spreadsheet skills, including pivot tables, index-match, and macros or Google Apps Script.
    • Experience creating dashboards and reports using tools such as QuickSight or Tableau.
    • Understanding of data modelling principles, with experience writing DBT scripts for basic transformations.
    • Able to identify and flag data quality issues, applying data quality checks during analysis.
    • Strong communication skills, able to present findings clearly to stakeholders.
    • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Data Science, Business, or Economics, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 2–4 years of experience in a data analysis role.
    • Experience with DBT or similar data transformation tools.
    • Exposure to Python for data analysis.

    Show Your Data Storytelling Chops

Data analyst roles at CloudFactory live on turning messy numbers into decisions. Hiring managers will probe how you've handled real business questions, not just your tool list. Bring proof you can translate data into action.

    1. Lead with a portfolio dashboard: Bring a live or static dashboard you built for a past project or even a personal dataset. Walk through the business question, your data prep, and the visual choices you made. Hiring teams want to see you can design for an audience, not just for yourself.

    2. Prove your SQL fluency: Expect a live SQL test or a take-home query exercise. Practice window functions, CTEs, and aggregations on a sample warehouse schema. Be ready to explain your logic aloud, not just write the query.

    3. Show DBT experience concretely: If you've used DBT, describe a transformation you built—sources, staging, models, and tests. If not, spin up a small DBT project on public data and walk through it. It shows you can learn the tool fast.

    4. Prepare a data quality story: Think of a time you caught a data error or inconsistency. Explain how you spotted it, what checks you applied, and how you communicated it. That's the kind of vigilance this role screens for.

    5. Practice stakeholder communication: You'll present findings to non-technical people. Prepare a 2-minute summary of a past analysis: the question, the data, the insight, and the recommended action. Keep it crisp and jargon-free.

    6. Brush up on data governance basics: Know what data access controls, PII handling, and compliance training mean in practice. Be ready to discuss how you've followed governance in past roles, even if it was informal.

    7. Tailor your CV to the tools: List SQL, Tableau/QuickSight, DBT, and Python prominently. Use action verbs like 'built', 'automated', 'streamlined'. Quantify impact where possible—e.g., 'reduced reporting time by 30%'.

    8. Ask smart questions about the role: In the interview, ask about the data stack, team structure, and how success is measured for this 9-month contract. It shows you're thinking about delivery, not just the job title.
