Own the IT Operations Narrative from Day One

This is a senior leadership role where your ability to think strategically about infrastructure, security, and people will be tested from the first interview. The hiring team wants to see that you can balance big-picture vision with the gritty details of running a global IT operation.

    1. Lead with your P&L story: Be ready to walk through a budget you've owned, how you allocated resources, and the trade-offs you made. Show you can talk about cost optimization, FinOps, and investment decisions with confidence.

    2. Show your DR/BCP playbook: Have a concrete example of a disaster recovery or business continuity plan you've designed or executed. Explain how you set RTO/RPO targets and how you tested the plan under pressure.

    3. Prove your vendor management chops: Share a story about a major SaaS or infrastructure procurement you led. What criteria did you use? How did you negotiate? How did you ensure SLA adherence?

    4. Demonstrate your people development: This role directly manages senior managers. Talk about how you've mentored and developed your direct reports, and how you've built a culture of accountability and innovation.

    5. Connect technology to business outcomes: Give examples of how you've aligned IT strategy with business goals. Use metrics: uptime, cost per user, time-to-market, or user satisfaction scores.

    6. Prepare for governance questions: Be ready to discuss how you've ensured regulatory compliance and audit readiness. Mention any frameworks you've used (ISO, SOC2, etc.) and how you've handled audit findings.

    7. Show your cloud-first mindset: Talk about your experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how you've rationalized on-premise estates. Mention any FinOps practices you've implemented.

    8. Bring an innovation example: Have a story about adopting AIOps, intelligent automation, or a cloud-native capability. Explain the problem, the solution, and the measurable outcome.
