    Show Your Play-Based Teaching Philosophy

Early childhood hiring panels watch for how you turn play into learning. They want evidence you can plan lessons that hit developmental milestones while keeping children genuinely engaged.

    1. Tailor your CV to ECDE: Highlight your diploma, any CBC training, and specific age groups you have taught. Use action verbs like 'designed', 'implemented', and 'assessed' to describe your classroom work.

    2. Prepare a sample weekly plan: Bring a concrete example of a week's activities that mix play, group work, and individual tasks. Show how each activity links to a developmental goal.

    3. Know the Competency Based Curriculum: Be ready to discuss how you adapt CBC themes into your lessons. Mention specific competencies like communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

    4. Emphasize classroom management: Describe your positive reinforcement strategies and how you set rules that young children understand. Give a real example of handling a challenging behaviour.

    5. Show your assessment methods: Explain how you track each child's progress, whether through observation notes, portfolios, or parent meetings. Mention how you share feedback with parents.

    6. Highlight your communication skills: Give examples of how you build rapport with parents and colleagues. Mention any parent-teacher conferences or collaborative projects.

    7. Demonstrate your patience and flexibility: Share a story that shows you adapting to unexpected situations in the classroom, like a child's meltdown or a sudden schedule change.

    8. Ask thoughtful questions: Prepare questions about the school's curriculum, class size, and support for professional development. This shows you are invested in the role and the children's growth.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
