Show You Can Deliver Events That Feel Effortless

Event and brand roles in hospitality are about precision and polish. Hiring managers want to see that you can juggle client expectations, supplier timelines, and brand consistency without dropping a detail.

    1. Lead with a portfolio of events you've coordinated: Even if they were small, list weddings, dinners, or brand activations you've helped run. Describe your role, the challenges, and the outcome. Use numbers where possible, like guest counts or budgets.

    2. Prove your social media fluency: Bring examples of Instagram or Facebook posts you've created or scheduled. Show that you understand visual branding and can write captions that match a brand's voice. Mention any tools you've used, like Canva or Asana.

    3. Prepare for scenario questions: Be ready to explain how you'd handle a last-minute change, an unhappy client, or a supplier delay. Use the STAR method to structure your answers, focusing on your proactive steps.

    4. Highlight your multitasking skills: Event coordination means juggling many tasks at once. Give examples of how you've managed multiple priorities under pressure, and how you stay organized.

    5. Show your guest service mindset: This role is about guest experiences. Talk about times you've gone above and beyond for a customer or guest, and how you ensure every touchpoint reflects the brand.

    6. Understand the brand: Research The Sands Kenya and its properties. Mention specific details in your application or interview that show you've done your homework and understand their style.

    7. Be ready to work flexible hours: Events often happen on evenings and weekends. Show that you're flexible and willing to be present when needed, and give examples of times you've worked non-traditional hours.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the team structure, the types of events they host most, and how success is measured. This shows you're thinking about the role deeply and are genuinely interested.
