    Master the School Procurement Cycle

This role is about more than closing a sale—it's about becoming a trusted partner to schools and bookshops. Hiring managers will look for proof you understand how educational institutions buy, what influences their decisions, and how to build long-term relationships.

    1. Show you know the education market: Highlight any experience with schools, bookshops, or educational products. Mention specific examples of how you identified decision-makers and navigated procurement processes.

    2. Prove your territory planning skills: Sales in a region like Kiambu requires smart routing and time management. Describe how you planned visits to maximize coverage and follow-up.

    3. Quantify your sales achievements: Use numbers on your CV—targets met, percentage growth, number of new accounts opened. Even if you're early in your career, show measurable outcomes from internships or side projects.

    4. Prepare for role-play scenarios: Expect to be asked to pitch a product or handle an objection. Practice presenting a children's book or a learning resource to a skeptical teacher.

    5. Understand the competition: Research major educational publishers in Kenya. Be ready to discuss how you'd differentiate your offering and win shelf space.

    6. Emphasize your reporting discipline: This role requires daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Show you can use simple tools like Excel or CRM to track activities and results.

    7. Show resilience and adaptability: Travel is extensive and rejection is common. Share a story where you turned a 'no' into a 'yes' or persisted through a tough sales period.

    8. Ask smart questions: In your interview, ask about the company's current market share in Kiambu, the sales cycle length, and what top performers do differently. This shows genuine interest and strategic thinking.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
