    Show Your Earth Observation Toolkit

This role sits at the intersection of satellite data, GIS, and public service. Hiring managers will be looking for proof you can handle geospatial data pipelines and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.

    1. Tailor your CV to the job: Highlight any coursework, projects, or work experience involving remote sensing, GIS, or satellite data. Use the exact terms from the job description, like 'digital image processing' or 'geospatial analysis'.

    2. Prepare a portfolio of your work: If you have maps, analyses, or code from past projects, bring them. A visual portfolio can set you apart in a technical field like Earth observation.

    3. Brush up on key software: Be ready to discuss your proficiency with tools like QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine, or Python libraries for geospatial analysis. Even if not required, showing familiarity helps.

    4. Understand the data lifecycle: This role involves acquisition, processing, distribution, and archiving. Be ready to talk about how you've managed data from start to finish, including storage and retrieval.

    5. Show you can train others: The job includes generating training materials and conducting sessions. Prepare a short example of how you would explain a complex Earth observation concept to a beginner.

    6. Know the Kenyan context: Research how Earth observation is used in Kenya, for example in agriculture, disaster management, or urban planning. Showing this awareness demonstrates genuine interest.

    7. Prepare for behavioral questions: Expect questions about working with stakeholders, managing multiple tasks, and handling data quality issues. Use the STAR method to structure your answers.

    8. Ask smart questions: At the end of the interview, ask about the team's current projects, data infrastructure, or how success is measured in the role. This shows you're thinking about the job seriously.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
