Show You Can Run Technology Like a Business

This role sits at the intersection of tech and commerce. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can talk ROI, not just uptime, and who has steered systems through real retail and supply chain pressure.

    1. Lead with business impact: In your CV and interview, frame every technology achievement around a business metric. For example, instead of saying 'implemented a new ERP', say 'cut order processing time by 30% and reduced stockouts by 15%'.

    2. Prove your AI and automation chops: Be ready to discuss specific AI projects you've led, from predictive analytics to process automation. Have a clear example of how you identified a use case, built a business case, and delivered measurable value.

    3. Show your infrastructure depth: Expect probing questions on cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and system integration. Walk through a time you migrated systems or handled a major outage with minimal business disruption.

    4. Demonstrate vendor and budget mastery: Talk about how you've negotiated contracts, managed suppliers, and kept projects within budget. Have numbers ready on cost savings or ROI from vendor decisions.

    5. Highlight your omnichannel experience: This role demands integrating online and offline customer experiences. Share examples of how you've connected e-commerce with physical stores, or unified customer data across channels.

    6. Prepare for stakeholder questions: You'll work with retail, wholesale, warehousing, and HORECA leaders. Practice explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and show you can translate business needs into tech solutions.

    7. Bring a transformation roadmap: Be ready to outline a 90-day plan for this role. What would you assess first? How would you prioritize quick wins versus long-term initiatives? Show you think strategically from day one.

    8. Show you're a leader, not just a tech expert: This is a head-of role, so expect questions on team building, mentoring, and creating a culture of innovation. Share how you've developed your team and managed change.
