This role sits where engineering meets client delivery. Hiring managers will be looking for proof you can handle both the drawing board and the field, especially around transformers, switchboards, and metering systems.

1. Tailor your CV to power systems: Highlight any hands-on work with transformers, switchboards, LV boards, or smart metering. Use specific project names and your exact role in commissioning or troubleshooting.

2. Prove your EPRA licence clearly: Put your EPRA Class C1 licence number and expiry date prominently on your CV. If you have it, mention any related safety training or certifications.

3. Show AutoCAD or simulation skills: List the specific tools you use (AutoCAD, ETAP, etc.) and describe a project where you produced drawings or schematics. If you have a portfolio, share a link.

4. Prepare for technical questions: Expect questions on protection systems, load calculations, and fault finding. Review basics of electrical theory and be ready to walk through a past troubleshooting scenario.

5. Demonstrate client communication: This role bridges teams and clients. Prepare examples of how you explained technical issues to non-technical stakeholders or handled client queries.

6. Highlight BOQ and proposal experience: If you've prepared bills of quantities or technical proposals, describe the scope and your contribution. Mention any cost estimation or vendor coordination.

7. Know the renewable energy context: Be ready to discuss common challenges in solar, wind, or hybrid power plants. Show you understand the specific equipment and standards in this sector.

8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the typical project lifecycle, the size of the engineering team, and what tools they use for design and documentation. This shows genuine interest and helps you assess fit.
