    Job Description

    The Legal Officer will provide legal advice and support to the Kenya Space Agency, including contract management, compliance, and legal research. The role also involves administrative and logistical support to the Board of Directors.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Providing advice and legal opinions to Management and the Board of Directors on contractual matters and on any legal actions contemplated by the Agency prior to execution.
    • Interpreting legal cases; advising on legal requirements and prosecution procedures; issuing instructions to agreement and contract defaulters.
    • Developing and implementing legal agreements and contracts in liaison with relevant departments and units.
    • Monitoring compliance with legal framework, agreements and contracts.
    • Preparing legal opinions on legal cases and on matters relating to legal notices.
    • Carrying out research on emerging legal issues.
    • Liaising with the Attorney General, law enforcement agencies and stakeholders on all legal matters.
    • Interpreting laws, regulation and provide legal opinions on matters of the Service.
    • Formulating, draft and facilitate Gazettement of Legal Notices for the Agency.
    • Advising the Agency and facilitate in registration and the protection of the Agency's logo and marks including licensed marks of regional and international arrangements.
    • Providing administration and logistical support to the wider Board Service function.
    • With the guidance of the Corporation Secretary, manage the diary of events of the Board.
    • Facilitate travel and accommodation logistics for the Board events and Meetings including refreshments, transport arrangements and distribution of the applicable documentation.
    • Support the production of reports and documents for various meetings including the full Board and Board Committee Meetings.
    • Provide logistical support for the Board Induction program.
    • Timely archive of e-Board online documentation including organization and retention processes on e-Board.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Laws LL.B degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
    • Membership to the Law Society of Kenya or a relevant professional body.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
