Show Evidence of Impact in Your Application

This role is about driving evidence-informed decisions at scale. Your application should demonstrate not just your technical skills, but your ability to turn data into action that improves lives.

    1. Quantify your impact: In your CV and cover letter, use numbers to show the scale of projects you've led, budgets you've managed, and outcomes you've influenced. For example, 'Led a $2M evaluation that informed a national policy change.'

    2. Show your technical toolkit: Be explicit about the econometric methods, data science tools, and qualitative approaches you've used. Mention specific software like Stata, R, or Python if you've used them.

    3. Demonstrate stakeholder finesse: Prepare examples of how you've navigated complex relationships with government officials, donors, or community leaders. Highlight your ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.

    4. Highlight your leadership style: This role involves mentoring and building teams. Share a specific instance where you developed a junior colleague or turned around a struggling team.

    5. Connect to the mission: Show genuine passion for fighting poverty. Mention any volunteer work, publications, or projects that align with IDinsight's mission.

    6. Prepare for a case interview: Expect to be tested on your analytical thinking. Practice structuring a research design or evaluation plan under time pressure.

    7. Know the context: Research IDinsight's recent projects in Kenya and East Africa. Be ready to discuss how your skills could contribute to their ongoing work.

    8. Ask smart questions: In your interview, ask about the team's current challenges, how success is measured, and opportunities for professional growth. This shows you're thinking long-term.
