Show Leadership That Keeps a Hospital Running

This role is about running a hospital day-to-day — from theatre lists to board minutes. The hiring panel will be looking for someone who can balance clinical credibility with administrative grip.

    1. Lead with your clinical and management mix: Your CV should show both your medical degree and any management training. Highlight any post-graduate diploma or degree in health management, and make it easy to spot.

    2. Prove you've run a busy hospital: Be ready to talk about your 3+ years in a busy hospital. Give concrete examples of how you managed staff, budgets, and patient care under pressure.

    3. Show you know Kenyan health regulations: Mention your registration with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board. Also, be ready to discuss how you've handled medical legal issues like P3 forms and court appearances.

    4. Demonstrate strategic planning: Talk about how you've developed annual work plans and aligned them with a hospital's strategic goals. Give an example of a plan you implemented and the impact it had.

    5. Highlight your change management skills: The posting asks for experience driving change with new technologies. Prepare a story about a time you introduced a new practice or technology that improved service delivery.

    6. Show your financial oversight: Be ready to discuss how you've managed budgets, revenue collection, and procurement. Mention any experience with hospital procurement processes.

    7. Prepare for leadership questions: Expect questions on how you lead multidisciplinary teams, manage performance, and ensure good governance. Have examples ready that show your leadership style.

    8. Know the camp context: Since this is with IRC in a refugee camp, show you understand the unique challenges of providing healthcare in that setting. Mention any experience with humanitarian or low-resource settings.
